Felipe Nasr sets quickest time in official F3 testing at Brands Hatch

Jakob Ebrey

17/06/2011 – British Formula 3 Championship leader Felipe Nasr was fastest in official testing on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit today, ahead of this weekend’s (18/19 June) rounds of the series.

The Brazilian, driving for reigning champions Carlin was the only driver to break the 1m 18s barrier, with his fastest time set this morning with the afternoon session affected by rain.

Nasr’s time was six tenths of a second inside the F3 lap record at Brands Hatch originally set in 2008 by current Toro Rosso F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari.

“The car was great in all conditions” said Nasr, who was 11th in this afternoon’s wet session. “I love this circuit to drive and I am looking forward to the weekend.”

Colombian driver Carlos Huertas, who is currently second in the championship, was second overall, but was easily fastest in the afternoon session.

The top British runner was Jack Harvey in third, with Rupert Svensden-Cook and William Buller sixth and seventh.

FIA Formula Two drivers Max Snegirev and Miki Monras are also competing this weekend, Snegirev adapting to a new team and reacclimatising himself to the car, while Monras is experiencing F3 for the first time. Both drivers will be looking to learn the track before the F2 round at Brands Hatch in a months’ time (22-24 July).

There will be three F3 races this weekend, with the first race taking place on Saturday afternoon at 14.45, with two races on Sunday, as well as a two-hour long race for the British GT Championship.
