Monster Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow has backed Bridgestone’s plan to bring a softer tyre compound to four MotoGP races after the Sachsenring round in a fortnight.

The Coventry rider has been outspoken on the subject of how difficult it is to get heat into the companty’s hard compund tyres and blames the warming up procedure for the amount of injured riders, including himself, there have been this season.

“They have the allocation to do it and what we are saying is let us choose on the day because if it’s cold, we will all run the soft but let us choose. The allocation will be the same because it will be a certain amount of tyres,” said Crutchlow.

“We want more in the allocation as we’re already one set short. The Bridgestone guys are really happy on what we’re having for the next races and they’ve changed from what it was to what we need, or what we think we need. You never know until you go there but it’s something that’s safer anyway.”
