At 37-years old, the American Ben Bostrom made his MotoGP debut Friday, riding as a Wildcard entry for LCR Honda at Laguna Seca.

His first outing on the LCR Honda RC212V MotoGP prototype was very productive, considering in Free Practice 1 Bostrom was just under five seconds behind the lead rider, but by Free Practice 2 he was just over four seconds slower.

By the end of Friday, Bostrom remained the final rider in the MotoGP field, posting the 18th fastest time of 1:26.159, which was 4.103 of a second slower than the lead rider, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo.

After his MotoGP practice sessions, Bostrom returned to his Michael Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 in his normal series, AMA Superbike, for Friday practice; he was ninth fastest, 1.711 of a second behind the leader, Yamaha’s Josh Hayes.

Ben Bostrom (LCR Honda RC212V MotoGP Wildcard) says: “Well… it was a great experience and I enjoyed myself very much. The adjustment we made for this afternoon session worked better and chassis set up felt better.

“I feel overall that Bridgestone tires are very good and the grip level is very high. I am struggling with the front in braking and turning into the corners so, in the last run, I took the opportunity to watch the other riders to see how they brake and how they turn into the corners of ‘my’ race track”.
