Manitoba Motocross Association: Race Report from GMX in Grunthal, Manitoba.
After last year’s hiatus from the circuit, motocross racing returned to Grunthal for round four of theFXR Racing / Headingley Sport Shop Spring Series. Excitement was in the air as GMX isone of everyone’s (even mine!) favourite tracks in the province. With the weather cooperating for the most part along with the biggest rider turnout of the year so far, one of the best race days of 2011 was in store.

GCR.. er GMX is back on the race circuit!
Here’s a shot of everyone from the announcer’s tower during riders meeting.
Let’s start off the report with a great battle in the MX-1 Junior class. Moto one played out with a great battle between points leader Scott Giesbrecht (138) and local Sidney Froese. The two were neck and neck during the waning laps. With a lap to go Froese tries to put a wheel in on Giesbrecht but the pass attempt didn’t stick..
..Geisbrecht won moto one, but Froese took moto two and the overall on the day.
Jacob Gnidziejko picked up a top five in Supermini with 4-5 motos for fifth overall.
Danny Winistok grabbed second overall (3-2) in Plus 40 A behind Kim Houde.
Ryan Linto cracked the top five in MX-2 Intermediate when his 8-3 moto scores were good for fifth overall.
Michael Medock was hauling in the 65cc 10-11 class taking second overall.
Taking the win in the Ladies B class was Morgan Blaquiere.
Noah Jacobson just missed the top three in the 50cc 7-8 class with fourth overall.
Pete Tereck rounded out the Plus 25 top three behind Josh Penner and Justyn Mccabe respectively.
Garrett Graboweski picked up fourth overall in the MX-2 Pro division.
Looks like Intermediate rider Brett Thiessen had some fans in Grunthal.

Brittany Mann took an overall in the Ladies class over Rachel Regier and Ami Houde respectively.
Not to be outdone by his older sister, Austin Mann picked up a third overall in the always competitive MX-2 Junior class.
I thought this looked like a cool way to plug some sponsors..
Cole Jacobson took an overall in MX-3 Junior with 1-2 motos over Joel Kostuik (4-1) and Jesse DiLazzaro (3-3).
Mark Stambuski was all threes in Grunthal with a pair of thirds in MX-2 Beginner for third overall.
Former AMA Motocross and Supercross racer Doug Dehaan (left) made an appearance at the track this weekend. The Ontario native wasn’t racing but was found perusing through the pits all day.
Tyson Rudney took sixth overall in the stacked Youth B main event.
Caleb Van der Meer celebrates another dominating day in the Junior classes.
Derek Anseeuw made his return to the MMA race scene and put in a top five in Youth A with fourth overall.
A first moto win helped Peter Abrams to third overall in MX-1 Beginner.
Ryder Mcnabb stood on the last step of the 50cc 4-6 podium with third overall.
One of the very few two-stroke riders left in in the Intermediate and Pro ranks, Nathan Regier still rings out his pre-mix machines race after race. This year Nathan has brought out a KX250 to battle in the MX-1 Intermediate class among the field of four-strokes. Regier picked up third overall in Grunthal aboard his KX250.
Kevin Solarchuck picked up a moto win en route to an overall victory in Vet Junior
Rouding out the Plus 40 B top five was Wayne Klassen with fifth overall.
Jonathon Griffin grabbed a third place trophy in 85cc 7-11 action.
Practice makes perfect, eh Josh?
Johnnie Unrau took sixth overall in the Vet Master class.
Nick Bembridge was ripping up the Grunthal track aboard his 150R taking a 85cc 12-16 third overall with him.
Justyn Mccabe took second overall behind a distant Josh Penner in MX-1 Pro.
And so ends another race day in Manitoba.
See you in Morden!
