Motorpoint Yamaha’s Loris Baz may be forced to give up his seat in Rob McElnea’s British Superbike team as a long-time personal sponsor has pulled out, leaving the Frenchman with a lack of funds.

Although the 18-year-old receives backing from Yamaha France to race in BSB, it is not enough to continue and he may not make it to the next round at Snetterton, let alone finish the season.

“It is so disappointing. We are just starting to find some really good form with the R1 and I am getting more confident with my riding too. We had really good sessions at Knockhill and I was looking forward to Snetterton,” said Baz, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

“Yamaha France have been so good but they only have so much, so I need to find another sponsor very quickly in order to try and see out the season in Britain, which I am loving.”
