Aveda Skincare

Hey everyone, I've been struck down with a really awful cold this week so I've been house bound and generally feeling terrible. I've haven't been wearing makeup these last few days since I've been feeling like death warmed up but I have been trying to treat my skin to make me feel a bit better. I have been trying out a couple of products from Aveda that they sent me recently. The Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque and Enbrightenment Brightening Correcting Creme. Here's what the products look like... Aveda doesn't have the most dynamic packaging but they are all about the botanically based ingredients and environmentally responsible packaging. I have been looking for a winter day cream that offers alot of moisture without leaving my skin oily or tacky. I have been trying the Enbrightenment cream for the past couple of weeks. On the Aveda website it promises that the cream "Intensely moisturises with organic shea butter and contains ceramide 3 to help strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier as brightening components work to diminish the appearance of dark spots".

Firstly, since they mention 'dark spots' I'm assuming this cream is geared towards the more mature woman however I kept an open mind and wanted to see if the 'moisture barrier' effect would work with my skin. I wanted a cream that would keep any dryness at bay but provide a good base for my makeup. Overall, I thought that this cream was ok, but it didn't perform as well as I would have hoped. It has quite a strong smell of lavender which isn't my favourite scent. It does moisturise but I didn't feel like it soothed the dry skin that much. The consistency is good as it's quite light and it sinks into the skin very quickly but the strong scent was quite hard to take first thing in the morning. So overall, the moisturiser is ok but I don't think I would shell out the money for it as it simply doesn't do enough for my skin. I expect quite alot from my moisturisers and since I'm so thorough with my skincare routine, I don't think this one will make the grade.
The product which has made a difference to my skin is the Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque (product can be seen on hand above). The Aveda website says it "Smooths and refines skin immediately—for a healthy glow between facials. Finely powdered tourmaline—one of nature's most energizing minerals—boosts skin's energy, while natural exfoliants help skin gently shed dull, lackluster surface cells—revealing new radiance". I love face masks that add a bit of glow and radiance to the skin and this product is gorgeously creamy to boot. I applied the product for 10 minutes and wiped it off with a damp muslin cloth. My skin was left feeling refreshed, super smooth and very supple. The mask doesn't leave your skin feeling tight and it definitely improves the radiance over time. This product really is a pleasure to use, it smells great and it's a lovely treat for your skin when you need a bit of a boost.
