Roy Williams Sues For Return Of 76K Engagement Ring (UPDATE)

In one of the stranger stories that have come across the wire here at Outside the Boxscore, current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams is suing a former Miss Texas contestant for the return of a $76,000 engagement ring that he sent to her.

We get more from Dallas Morning News:

According to a court affidavit signed by Williams, he sent the ring in the mail to Daniels along with a recorded proposal. The proposal came as a pre-Valentine's Day surprise along with $5,000 for bills and a baseball for Daniels' brother. Daniels rejected the proposal and failed to return the ring, according to the affidavit.

Daniels reportedly told Williams she lost the ring, but according to an investigation from Williams' insurance company, the ring is in the possession of Daniels' father Michael, who is also listed as a defendant on the lawsuit.

Both Williams and Daniels declined comment, but Michael discussed some details on Williams' relationship with his daughter. He claimed Williams eventually told his daughter to keep the ring, but said he'll return the ring to avoid a lawsuit.
Let this be a lesson to all of the guys out there who try to win their girl over with a taped video recording asking for marriage, it ain't goin work.

Update: Roy Williams has gotten the ring back
