A super impressive 40,000 fans came out at a super hot Teutschenthal track in Germany this weekend for the latest outing in the FIM Motocross World Championship. The hoards crammed into Monster Energy?s hospitality and lining the track got to witness some more podium joy for Gautier Paulin and Tommy Searle.
The Yamaha and Kawasaki MX2 boys have been regulars on the box all season. Gautier?s on a hot streak of podiums which made his second overall no surprise and Tommy bounced back from the disappointment of being taken out last weekend in Sweden to grab a third spot. Gautier, making the most of some engine upgrades to his YZ250FM prototype, took the chequered flag in the second race for the first time in ?11. British ace Searle said his runner-up slot in the same sprint was one of his best performances of the year.
?I had a great start in the second moto and was behind Ken when he made his mistake,? Paulin grinned afterwards. ?I knew I had the advantage and had to win the race. I pushed hard to make it happen. We are second on the podium and the first three-four riders are very strong but we are working hard.?
Ken De Dycker, Steven Frossard and David Philippaerts all ended up in the MX1 top ten. Frossard sealed third place in the first moto but both the Frenchman ? winner last time out in Sweden ? and Philippaerts both smashed the gate in the second moto and had to come through the field.
One of the Monster Army?s fastest and most experienced recruits, Christophe Pourcel, returned to GP duty in Germany. The Frenchman is representing with the CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy Pro Circuit and getting up to speed for another assault on the AMA supercross and motocross scene for 2012.
The Monster Energy Motocross tribe march east directly from Germany in order to set-up camp in the soft loam of Kegums and the Grand Prix of Latvia next week.
