When it comes to motorcycle jackets, Schott NYC is the real deal: The company has a heritage that money can’t buy. So we’ve hooked up with Schott to offer Bike EXIF readers a chance to win a jacket worth up to US$500.
As with all the best bikes, there’s a great story behind Schott NYC. It goes back almost a hundred years to 1913, when brothers Irving and Jack Schott started the business in a basement on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They branded their jackets with the name of Irving’s favorite cigar, the Perfecto—and then revolutionized the way we dress by becoming the first manufacturers to put a zipper on a jacket.
Selling for just $5.50, the new Perfecto was rugged and stylish. It didn’t take Hollywood long to catch on, and after World War II the Perfecto became a style icon. Marlon Brando wore a Perfecto astride his 1950 Triumph Thunderbird in The Wild One, and it became synonymous with the the excitement, adventure and danger that fuels the spirit of motorcycles. Today, Schott is run by third and fourth generation members of the Schott family, and unlike most brands they still make their jackets in the USA in their own factory.
How to enter
It’s simple. Just head over to the Schott NYC website and take a look at the range. You’ll find everything from the iconic Perfecto to classic cafĂ© racer-style gear. Once you’ve decided which Schott jacket fits your style, jump to the competition page and fill in your details before the competition closes at midnight, Monday 14 June 2010, US EST.
That’s all there is to it!
Please note: Entry is open to residents in any country that can be shipped to from the USA. Schott will draw the winner at random, and the prize is any jacket plus shipping up to US$500. If you have your eye on a jacket that costs more than US$500 including shipping, that’s okay—you’ll just need to pay the difference. Local duties and taxes are the winner’s responsibility. Competition not open to employees of (or anyone connected to) Schott NYC or Bike EXIF.
PS: Follow Schott on Facebook and Twitter for chances to win more prizes, jackets, trips and other cool stuff.
